Biographies

Eric Nakagawa is the President and primary assignor for Professional Officiating. Eric started umpiring scholastic baseball in 2013. He currently works NAIA, Junior College (all 6 Northern California conferences), and high school baseball. Eric also umpires during the off-season, working college summer league and independent league baseball, along with various men’s and youth leagues. Mr. Nakagawa is the 2021 Pecos League "Umpire of the Year." Eric's post-season experience includes the Pecos League playoffs (finals (cc) and semi-finals(cc)), NAIA CalPac Conference Championships, California High School Sectional (NCS) Finals, as well as crew chief for multiple Sectional (NCS and CCS) semi-final games, and college summer league finals and semi-finals..

Mr Nakagawa is also the primary assigner for the North East Bay Sports Officials Association (NEBUA), which trains and assigns baseball umpires for high school contests in Marin, West Alameda, Solano and West Contra Costa counties. He also assists with Choice Officials in San Jose.

 

Mr Nakagawa is the co-founder of West Coast Umpire Camps, (WCUC), which is a joint partnership between Eric Nakagawa of Professional Officiating and Michael Wraa of the Golden State Sports Officials Association in the hopes of providing an affordable, fun, and professional umpire training environment.

Eric is happily married to his wife of fourteen years, Jill, and they have six grown children. He currently consults on IT projects, specializing in policy and system designs, with an emphasis on information security and alignment of technical infrastructure with business strategies. Mr. Nakagawa’s diverse career has included leading NCAA compliance audits for a major West Coast private university, program management and implementation of a University’s enterprise learning management solution, authored, implemented and audited corporate information security and privacy policies and systems, designed and implemented technical infrastructures and international business continuity plans and, started his professional career as a tax accountant.

For fun, Eric has coached baseball at the youth and high school levels. He can be spotted hiking with his dog, Sunshine, on various trails and parks throughout Northern California.
