Eric Nakagawa is the owner and assignor for Professional Officiating, LLC. Eric started umpiring scholastic baseball in 2013. He currently works NAIA, Junior College (all 6 Northern California conferences), and high school baseball. Eric also umpires during the off-season, working college summer league and independent league baseball, along with various men’s and youth leagues. Mr. Nakagawa is the 2021 Pecos League "Umpire of the Year" recipient. Eric's post-season experience includes the Pecos League playoffs (finals and semi-finals), California High School Sectionals (NCS finals and semi-finals (cc)) CCS semi-finals [3 - 2(cc)], and college summer league (finals and semi-finals).

Mr Nakagawa is also the primary assigner for the North East Bay Sports Officials Association (NEB), which trains and assigns baseball umpires for high school contests in Marin, Alameda, Contra Costa and Solano counties. He also assists Choice Officials in San Jose.

Eric is happily married to his wife of thirteen years, Jill, and they have six grown children. He currently consults as an IT Strategist and Program Manager, specializing in policy and system designs, with an emphasis on information security and alignment of technical infrastructure with business strategies, and IT Project Management. Mr. Nakagawa’s diverse career has included leading NCAA compliance audits for a major West Coast private university; Program Manager for a major University’s enterprise learning management solution; authored, implemented and audited corporate information security and privacy policies and systems; designed and implemented technical infrastructures and international business continuity plans. Eric started his professional career as a tax accountant. 

Eric especially enjoys helping umpires achieve their goals. For fun, Eric has coached baseball at the youth and high school levels, and enjoys music and gardening. He can be spotted hiking with his dog, Sunshine, on various trails and parks throughout Northern California.

Joel Woods started his umpire career when he was 8 years old and has been umpiring for over 30 years.  He has umpired Junior College (Golden Valley Conference), college club baseball, men’s league, Little League, American Legion, Pony, numerous summer baseball programs, and travel ball.  He was chosen for NCS post-season assignments numerous times.  He has been chosen to umpire the Transbay series twice. Joel is currently one of Professional Officiating's co-owners. 


Born in October 1980 in Ft. Lauderdale FL. He resides in San Ramon, CA and is single.  Joel attended St. Mary’s College of CA where he played Rugby and majored in Business and Economics in the honors program.  Joel is currently a teacher's aide at San Leandro High School and is involved in many activities with the students which include cooking club, softball, basketball, and football. Joel strives to become better in every aspect of his life while helping others achieve their goals.
